Basic Information about Metronidazole

Metronidazole is basically an antibiotic drug that is effective against anaerobic bacteria as well as certain parasites.  Doctors will prescribe you to buy metronidazole if you have any bacterial infections in order to eliminate the bacteria within or outside your body.  You will be prompted to buy metronidazole should you have bacterial infections in your stomach, skin, respiratory tract, vagina, joints and other areas of the body.  Keep in mind though that metronidazole will not treat vaginal yeast infection as well as viral infections.

As an antibiotic, metronidazole has many uses, mostly when it concerns bacterial infections.  What makes metronidazole effective as an antibiotic is that it basically stops the growth of bacteria and protozoa.

The normal side effects when you buy metronidazole and use it for bacterial infections are headache, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, dry mouth, constipation, and loss of appetite.  If you notice any of these side effects and that they seem to persist or worsen, it is advised that you call your physician immediately.  Rare side effects of this drug will include eye pain, vision change, severe headache, unusual bleeding, persistent fever, and vomiting.  If any of these symptoms are noticed, it is highly advised that you call your physician immediately for proper medical advice on what you need to do.

When you buy metronidazole with intention to use it for any particular bacterial infection, it is important that you avoid drinking any alcoholic beverages upon drinking the medication for at least a day or two.  The reason why drinking is prohibited is because you are likely to experience many of the side effects known when using this drug.  Also, it is important to understand that this drug has the capacity to make you feel dizzy which is why it is not advised to drive or operate heavy machineries or power tools after drinking this drug.  The risks are simply too great because it is either you injure yourself from doing it, or you may injure others in the process.

Pregnant women should avoid using this drug unless needed followed by the advice of your doctor.  Additionally, breastfeeding women should also avoid using this medication because the drug may pass onto the breast milk. If you really need to use the drug, it is likely that the breastfeeding process will be interrupted for several days to a few weeks after your last dose of metronidazole.
